OVERVIEW OF ALL CHAMBER MUSIC PROGRAMS

hall pillarsChamber Music study at the Bay View Music Festival is designed to provide instrumentalists the opportunity to immerse themselves in the study of chamber music through five distinct student ensembles including two string quartets, wind quintet, two brass quintets and numerous combinations involving piano. Students also receive private lessons with faculty, chamber music coachings, recital performance opportunities, courses in reedmaking (as appropriate) and seminars in the skills necessary to building a career in the arts (networking, resumes, taxes, grant writing, etc).

Opportunities for mixed ensemble performance will be provided within the framework of the chamber music classes. The study of vocal/instrumental chamber music combinations is also encouraged. Masterclass sessions provide an opportunity for collective feedback on the progress of the ensembles plus time for the assembled faculty and Student Artists to discuss specific topics of interest to chamber musicians such as Baroque ornamentation, new music performance techniques, rehearsal skills, concert etiquette and professional chamber music opportunities.

Most instrumentalists perform with the Bay View Chamber Orchestra in its three main performances.

Student Artist chamber ensembles are encouraged to apply for admission as a group. Special financial aid is available for highly qualified ensembles.

The chamber music program may include:

  • Private study with a member of the BVMF faculty
  • Numerous Chamber Music Coachings Weekly
  • Chamber Music Performance Opportunities (both formal and informal)
