VOCAL PROGRAMS


SCHOLARSHIPS
: Every student who is accepted is eligible for financial aid, both need and/or merit-based. Scholarships and work study typically defray at least a third of the total tuition, room and board costs. Bay View also arranges for paid church section leader positions pending interest and availability.

COSTS:

SOARS PROGRAM:            $1,650 (All-inclusive after arrival. Most students will receive approx. $200 in scholarship/aid) 
SPIRITUALS INTENSIVE:   $700 (All-inclusive after arrival, generous minority scholarships available)

(Discounts available for participating in two sessions)

SIX WEEK OPERA TUITION:          $1,750 (Includes lessons, coachings, classes, etc.)
SIX WEEK ROOM/BOARD:             $1,550 (Incl. breakfast/lunch/dinner Mon-Fri & brunch/dinner Sat.-Sun.)

NOTE: Avg. student in 2015 paid around $2,200 out-of-pocket.

FIVE WEEK EVITA PRINCIPALS:   $1,400 (Includes lessons, coachings, classes, etc.)
FIVE WEEK ROOM/BOARD:          $1,350 (Incl. breakfast/lunch/dinner Mon-Fri & brunch/dinner Sat.-Sun.)

NOTE: Avg. student in 2015 paid around $1,500 out-of-pocket.

(BONUS: In all opportunities except the Spirituals intensive, students who desire may sing at local churches, for an average of $75/week, further defraying the cost)

ACCOMPANIST:
You will be provided an accompanist for 30 min. of your weekly voice lesson, up to 30 min. of outside rehearsal together, and  performance(s) that week. NOTE: Your tuition includes this, but the accompanist fee is not covered by any scholarships.

SHUTTLE TO/FROM LOCAL AIRPORTS:
Available at student cost from Pellston (20 min. away) or Traverse City (1.5 hrs away). Payment directly to the shuttle company.

ADDITIONAL LESSONS or PRIVATE COACHINGS

Eight one-hour lessons: $400
Eight half-hour lessons: $300
Single hour lessons: $55

PAYMENT OF TUITION AND FEES
A deposit of $350 is due upon notification of acceptance to the Festival. The deposit is required to reserve the place of the student in the Festival and is applied toward tuition, room and board and other expenses. This deposit will be refunded to a student withdrawing from the Festival prior to May 1. No refund of the deposit is possible for withdrawals after May 1.

BALANCE OF TUITION AND FEES MUST BE PAID BY 30 DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.



REFUNDS

Refunds of Tuition and Room and Board expenses (excluding the $350 confirmation deposit) for withdrawal from the Festival will be made on the following basis:

  • 80% - Withdrawal by April 15
  • 50% - Withdrawal by May 1
  • Non-refundable - Withdrawal after May 1

There is no refund for missed lessons. If the instructor is notified at least 24 hours in advance of a cancelled lesson, the lesson may be made up at the discretion of the instructor.
